Traditional fire alarm system uses sirens, horns, and strobes as means of notification signalling media in case of fire emergency. However, as development trends turn to high rises and multi-level complexes, the mere indication of fire is no longer practical. The need to provide directional instructions to lead occupants out of danger became an indispensable necessity, thus the need for the enhancement of FDAS with emergency voice alarm communication (EVAC). Furthermore, EVAC are used as mass notification alert for severe weather, flooding, earthquake, and mass shooting dispersal operation.
Aside from emergency evacuation, under normal operation EVAC also can function as a background music (BGM) and paging system.
